Who We Are

The Telework Consortium Inc. assists public agencies and private companies to plan and implement robust telework and distributed work programs. The organization discovers, evaluates and demonstrates the field-ready hardware and software, management processes, infrastructure configurations, measurement techniques and best practices that are likely to speed the early adoption of cost-effective, easy-to-use designs and technologies for working and collaborating from remote locations.

From a technological perspective, the Consortium has promoted the adoption of state-of-the-art communications technologies that allow video, audio and data sharing among remote workers utilizing the public Internet. The Telework Consortium is focused on a future vision of a diverse, globally networked society, where “workplace” is redefined, productivity is enhanced and the work experience among remote workers is enriched.

The Telework Consortium, a 501 (c)(3), is rigorously objective in its focus on a small set of interwoven priorities:

  • encouraging the spread of ultra-bandwidth telework as an affordable, everyday norm;
  • establishing telework as a credible method for increasing productivity and profitability in wide ranging commercial industries;
  • lobbying for support of distributed work among federal agencies;
  • enhancing the security of managers, employees, workplaces, installations and information;
  • reducing the costs of such variables as traffic congestion, commuting expenses and real estate;
  • playing a key role in the economic development of rural areas of major metro regions.

The Consortium offers, based upon its experience in successful telework demonstration projects in government agencies and private enterprise, assessment and consulting services that address appropriate telecommunications and desktop PC technology for the remote worker, as well as workflow and work culture issues. The group’s successful case studies include Loudoun County, Va. Government, Nova Medical and Urgent Care Center, Inc. and Amendment One publishing group.
